We have had a proper family day out! I know it sound odd, but occasionally we do things and somehow it really hits you that you are a proper grown-up (or as near as you'll ever get), and having a family day out means going somewhere with your child, not your parents!
I think there are also some things that you remember so vividly from your own childhood, that it comes as something of a shock to find yourself doing them again, but being the parent, not the child.
Anyway, we went to Caswell Bay. When we got there the tide was high and there were about a million people squished into a little patch of sand at the top of the beach. But the tide was just on the turn so we sat on the steps for a bit and then went and claimed a patch of sand.
We had a bucket and spade, and some windmills:
Mummy wore a hat to keep the sun off her shoulders:
And in the end baby b decided it was safe to sit on the sand after all, and ventured off the rug:
