This is my nappy/change bag. It is grey, boring, a bit saggy, and has a pocket along the front which is too big to be of any use as it hangs open and everything disappears to the bottom.

This my exciting new nappy/change bag, which I have just finished making. (As in, I ripped out the last bit of tacking and ran upstairs to take photos and upload them to flickr.)

The outside fabric is a heavy cotton from Ikea, and the inside is a bit of a sheet from a charity shop. (I have loads of this, if anyone loves it and wants some...) At the front there is a pocket which is divided in two and thus not as saggy as the other one. On the inside there are three pockets along one side and two on the other.

Things I had never done before making this:
- put a zip in anything successfully
- used interfacing (got some really thick stuff which is how the bag has such a good shape even when empty)
- sat down and thought out a design properly and made a pattern, rather than just saying 'I'll just cut this roughly the size I think it should be and see how it goes'
- impaled myself on pins quite so regularly

I'm very pleased with it. Hopefully it will have its first outing this afternoon.
