Saturday: Went to town with baby b, bought him his first pair of proper shoes. The shoe shop* takes a photograph of this, and gives it to you in a frame with 'my first shoes' written on it. In our photo baby b looks so utterly gormless I'm not going to post it!
*Obviously it's not actually the shop that takes the photo, it's a shop assistant, but you know what I mean.

Went the long way back to the car, along castle meadows, and saw 4 baby wrens in the hedge! I love wrens. The little ones were about the size of very fluffy golf balls. And they can make a lot of noise for such tiny birds.

In the evening, we went to a wedding party, where I saw the obstetrician who told us that baby b had Spina Bifida, and looked after me for the rest of the pregnancy. It was good to see him (I think I may have said before that he was a very lovely man), and tell him how well baby b is doing. I think by the end of the conversation he might even have remembered who I was! I did say to him 'you must recognise women all the time when you're in town, and not really be sure whether you actually know them or you've treated them, or what.'. His wife told me her theory that the women who see him and smile were maternity patients, while the ones who see him, have that moment of recogition, and then turn away were gynaecology patients. I think this is almost certainly correct.

On Sunday we went over to the inlaws to put our tent (aka The Canvas Mansion) up in their garden. Their garden is bigger than ours. We hadn't put the tent up since greenbelt last year (that's terrible isn't it? we intended to use it so much) and wanted to check we could still remember how, and that all the bits were there. It all went up surprisingly easily, and we were very pleased with ourselves.

I'm off to stay with big sister tomorrow for a couple of days (baby b is coming too). I'll try to remember to take the camera so I can show you some beach photos. Does anyone know what the weather is going to be like?
