Rhys has reminded me...

... that I haven't finished the list yet. (It was the reference to Keith Donelly that made me remember).

So, without further ado:

7. Teaching session on Worship with the Yoof.
I've been asked to do one, basically. I think each of the people who regularly lead worship at church have been asked to do one, which I do think is a very good thing as there are some very different approaches within that group of people, and I think anything which avoids giving the impression that there is One True Way must be good.
The lady who asked me to do it is Very Earnest, and said she was asking me to talk about 'intimacy in worship' as I have 'such a heart for that'. Unfortunately I didn't have the heart to tell her I have no idea what that means.
Still, I think I know what I'm planning to say. When I have organised it a bit more in my head I might try it out on you lot first. (Or I might spare you!)
The alternative is to see if the Rev. Gerald is available that morning and get him to do it. I will admit I am tempted by that option.

8. Kate Rusby
Yes. Well. Kate Rusby was of course excellent, and I very much enjoyed it. I had heard people say how funny she is, as well as being a marvellous musician, and she really is - hilarious and very engaging. After a couple of songs Chalky and I agreed that we were going to have to stop turning to each other every time she introduced a song, and saying 'oo I love this one', because we both pretty much love all of them.
The other brilliant thing about that evening was that despite babysitting-related disorganisation on my part, and trains generally on Chalky's, we arrived in Chepstow within about 5 minutes of each other and had time for a quick meal before going up to the gig. So that was good.
So. Keith Donelly. I know Rhys and Lemly like him but I have to be honest: he did my head in. I think this was partly because I didn't really know what to expect. A lot of my discoveries of musicians I've not heard of before have been through seeing them in support at gigs. I had high hopes that the support at a Kate Rusby gig might be a similar discovery of Great Music, so I guess I just wasn't prepared for jokes and general tomfoolery. There are also Audience Participation Issues, for me at least.
If I'd known what to expect I might have enjoyed it more, but actually it just reminded me of a story Bill Bailey tells (I think it's on the Part Troll dvd) of going to see Whitney Houston play in Central Park. She's a couple of hours late, and the audience are freezing and impatient. When she finally arrives, she starts this gushing 'I'd just like to say I love each and every one of you' speech and a man behind Bill Bailey shouts 'just sing, bitch!'.
That's kind of how frustrated I got with him I'm afraid.
Sorry.

(You might think I've jumped from 5 to 7 in the list, but 6 was included in 5. And I did number 9 ages ago, so the list is now finished. Phew.
