Show of Hands: Monmouth, 1st December
Steeleye Span: Abergavenny, 5th December
I don't know how I had it in my head they were both on the 1st. Still no decision as to which, if either, I'll go to.
Mr b and his brother are going to see Brian Houston tonight. Seth Lakeman was so good, and the venue was also so good, that it seemed a shame not to go. No babysitter available, so mr b is going with his brother. (I saw Brian Houston twice at GB, mr b only once, so we figured this was fair.)
I went over to Monmouth yesterday afternoon to get the tickets and once there had a stroll round as it's not a town I know well, despite being just down the road. I have discovered The Fabric Shop Of Joy And Delight. Auntie Doris, if you make it up here for a weekend between now and Christmas I suggest an afternoon in Monmouth - start saving now! (There was a notice by the till in the fabric shop saying 'your husband phoned and said you can buy whatever you like' which made me laugh out loud as I was just thinking 'I can't get anything now - my fabric box is so full, he'd kill me...')
On the way over there in the car I heard my old English teacher on the radio. Which was odd. (Particularly because it was a programme I hardly ever listen to. The car radio is generally tuned to radio 4 but when I switched on it was Any Answers - there was one of those women on who always sound very meek and timid at the beginning and need lots of encouragement, and then become more and more rabidly right-wing as they grow in confidence - so I turned to radio two and within 30 seconds there was a voice I recognised, who'd phoned in to tell Stuart Maconie something.)
Things to do this week: I really MUST sort out somewhere to stay for the college reunion bash in two weeks' time.
