I know I am by no means the only person to regularly suffer with getting a tune stuck in my head. We all get them. But mine are weird. Really.
I have this tendency to realise (somewhere deep in the odder recesses of my brain - I don't do this deliberately) that the words of one song will fit to the tune of another, and once this realisation has been made, it's difficult to get rid of it. You can only understand how disturbing this is if you've spent months, months I tell you! with Incy Wincy Spider' going round your head to the tune of Now the Green Blade Riseth'.
The other thing that happens is that a bit of one song gets attached to a bit of another song and absolutely will not budge. So on Friday night, I spent a large proportion of the night awake (due to illness - the birdie household have all been poorly this week - you don't want detail, believe me) with this gem going through my head:
New Aqua-draw gives you so much more!
More drawing fun for everyone!
And best of all it's watery fun,
No pens, no ink, no paint to run!
Rule Britannia! Britannia rule the waves:
Britons never shall be slaves.
Those of you without small children may need to know that the first bit is the jingle from an intensely irritating advert. Anyway, I need more sleep.
