An unexpected night in

Set out the labyrinth today, which was a mammoth task, but it's looking good!

Grandpa (mr b's dad) had baby b for the day while I played with masking tape at church. They went to the toddlers' Christmas party this morning, and then came to meet me for lunch.

Just after leaving the party baby b very suddenly started to wheeze and cough, and his temperature spiked quite dramatically. When they arrived at the church coffee bar for lunch, he was very hot and quite floppy and woozy-sleepy. I gave him piriton and his inhaler, and his temperature started to come down on its own. I had to go to the pharmacy to pick up a couple of scripts for him, so I took him with me, on the basis that arriving at the dr's surgery saying 'I showed him to the pharmacist and he told me to come here right now' is likely to get you seen quite quickly. By the time we got to the pharmacy (a matter of about three minutes) he was, naturally, fine. Still a little warm but okay, still a little wheezy but perfectly chirpy and with it.

I assured the pharmacist he hadn't had a febrile convulsion, as I hadn't seen him have one, and if he'd had one in the care of Grandpa you would have heard the cries of panic from miles away, but we agreed that he'd been heading that way if his temperature hadn't stabilised itself.

So he's had calpol and been put to bed, and I'm staying in rather than going to the church christmas party. Of course I would prefer that this hadn't happened, but I have to be honest and say that after the day I've had, sitting down and watching Jam & Jerusalem is preferable to the party.

(And I have Toblerone to eat. A Christmas gift from the mums at toddlers. One of them wrote in the card that toddlers is her son's favourite place in the world, which does make one feel one's doing something right.)
