The girl ran back to the house. She ran into her brothers‘ chamber, and held out her hands. Her brothers stirred, and took her hands. She led them, unseeing, back to the clearing in the wood.
The devil stood once again in the clearing, holding the knife from the kitchen.
The girl danced once again and as she danced, she saw the devil take the tendons from her brothers and lay them on top of the thing he had made from her father‘s bones.
