Later, the girl and the young man slept in each other's arms. The moonlit room suddenly glowed red as fire appeared in the large mirror which hung on the wall. The devil stepped out of the mirror and walked towards the bed. He held out his hands, and the girl and the young man took his hands. The devil led them, unseeing , into the mirror.
The girl and the young man were never heard of again. There were rumours, tales of strange music and a cold place, a clearing in the woods.
As time went by the girl, her family and the young man were forgotten. The house fell into disrepair; the roof began to cave in and birds and wild animals made their homes there.
