Magic boots

Look, I'm sorry I haven't been here for a while. There must have been a lot going on, because I am shattered and never seem to have a free moment, but I'm not quite sure what all the goings-on have been.

Anyway, the main news around here is The Boots!

Groover got his special boots from the physio a couple of weeks ago. The difference in his steadiness and balance was almost immediate. He didn't walk independently, but was much more happy to walk holding only one hand than before. (He's always preferred to walk orang-utan style, holding both hands with the relevant adult standing behind him. This is not good for the relevant adult's back.) The day after getting the boots, he came with us to the supermarket and walked around holding only one hand for about 20 minutes, which he would never have managed before.

The independent walks (from sofa to chair etc) at home began to get longer, and suddenly this week, since coming back from big sister's at the weekend, he has improved noticably every day. I know that sounds like an exaggeration, but seriously, he can do more today than he could yesterday, and more yesterday than the day before. We are at the point now where (depending of course on how long we'll be out) we're not bothering much to take the pushchair with us, and at home he hardly crawls at all. Today I was shopping with him in the pushchair, and took him out to try something on him. When I told him it was time to get back in the pushchair, he ran away from me!

The best thing is that this isn't boot-dependent. It's as though, having had the extra support from the boots, something has suddenly clicked, and he can do it barefoot as well. He is extremely proud of himself, and seems to be enjoying it.

So, like I said Magic Boots!
