The first of the Christmas movies...

I have developed a very bad habit of when visiting large supermarkets having a wonder around the dvd department and generally buying something that I meant to see in the cinema (but failed to) but is now reduced. This evening, due to the fact that there is nothing on tv I have watched The Golden Compass and more importantly I have enjoyed it. Wasn't sure if I would, but I did.

I realise that a lot of people who have also read the books would point out that there are some differences, but I've not read the books so can enjoy the film without sitting there thinking, "But it's not supposed to happen like that!!" Which is what I do with the Harry Potter films.

Though having watched The Golden Compass I do now wonder what shape my dæmon* would take. I would like to think that it would be either a fox, squirrel or maybe an owl.

* - The Golden Compass is based in a parallel universe in which a person's soul resides outside the body in an animal-like form called a dæmon.

Today's picture is of course Santa's Workshop where I imagine the elves are getting slightly stressed (though not for long) and your (my) chocolate was a sack of toys... yummy!!
