With the NHL season cancelled this year I've been suffering from Ice Hockey withdrawl symptoms. Yesterday I managed to catch a game in Cardiff. I was most disapointed with the way that the Devils played.
[ed-I have since checked and what I thought might have been the case was, the Devils were playing a weakened team to rest people and had their second goalie in net to give him some match practice.]
The first goal the Devils' keeper made a great save on a break-away, only fot the three defenders to follow the first Sheffield player to the right, while the puck rebounded to the left, to be picked up by an unmarked player to score.
The Devils' forwards were peppering shots at times, but very few were actually on goal. Off the post once, into the sides twice and the rest of the time up over the top or wide. I think the Steeler's goalie made maybe three saves.
On the flip side, I had imense fun and would most certainly go again!!! It was probably just a blip, they were resting as they'd already gotten into the Playoff Semi's and were getting ready for those!!!
Just have to wait till next season now.........
