You know, I had planned what I was going to write today, there were several things that I was going to say yesterday but had decided that I'd written enough and would save it for today, as well as new stuff that I have since forgotten..... Though I feel that Pope Benedict XVI was going to come into it...... somehow!!!
After waiting for a month for my MEC catalogues to come through the post I've decided it's time to reorder them. The fact that I've had to reorder everone that I've wanted doesn't mean that they're not very good. I think it's just their way of deciding if overseas orderers are serious about wanting them. Especially as they come by non-priority mail all the way from Vancouver, BC, Canada. But they are so worth the wait. And for no more reason than I can I've decided to also order the French version. If only becuase they offer it in French. I can't speak the language, but was wondering if there was any difference. Sad, but there we go.
And as I approach the end of The Best of the Beach Boys, I think it's about time to put my thoughts on the new Pope down. Having purposly waited till everyone who was going to has done (I just wanted to be the last) and having given it lots of thought...... Hmmmmmmmm [stroky bread]
I am unashamably a progressive, I suspect that he and I would disagree on many things, but at the same time, I have a great respect for Pope Benedict. He's coming into the Papacy in the knowledge that he is following a man that is already being called John Paul the Great by the populace a man whom he was a good friend of and had known for a quarter of a century.
For all of those who are hoping for change, I'm afriad that you're not going to get it, at least not to the extent that the Anglican Church has changed over recent years. On the otherhand I do believe that he is going to be working on improving relationships between the Roman Catholic Church and the other World Religions. He has a massive task of unifying the Roman Church in the Northern and Southern hemispheres, while trying not to centralise the Church any more.
While I feel that Pope Benedict has been brought in as a steady hand while the world gets over the loss of Pope John Paul II, it is important to realise that while he is 78, he is in very good condition and could be around for many years yet, it would not surprise me if this papacy lasted 15 or more years!!!
During that ramble, the Beach Boys did finish..... it's back to Rolf Harris, though a differnt album today..... sorry, have I just admitted to owning more than one... whoops!!!! :s
So now I sit here and finish off my work for this evening with the music from Chess..... cause it's brill!!!!
And while I know that I shouldn't, I am just far too confrontational for my own good. Stupid, stupid boy.......
1. People younger than yourself deserve to be treated with respect and aren't always less mature. - pah!!! Being a Grumpy Old Man, it gives me the right, nay, the privilage to look on those younger than me, to point out their mistakes and to mention that when I was a lad things were a lot better.........
Aye you've 'ad it soft!! Back in my day we worked down t' mine 36 hour, after having to amp'litate own leg to use bone as pic' axe. Aft'r shift were over we'd have to cross yonder mountain (called Everest I recall)on bloody stump, walk 34 miles over, molton, poisionous magma and then 'ad to get up two hours b'fore I 'ent t' bed to get back t' mine. And 'ad to pay mine owner fer privilage.
