Movies.........

Went to see 'Batman Begins' last night, it's a good movie, most enjoyable. Though I have a misgiving, and it's not so much just at Batman, but at a lot of recent films. And that is the disjointedness of the fight scenes. Lots of cut shots amking the action that much harder to follow.

One of those things that Lucus got right in the Star Wars films (an example in Episode I) are fight scenes where the fight flows, and you can see all the action. In the fight near the end between the Jedi knights and Darth Maul the camera work stays back and you are able to get a sense of the fight. You're able to admire the skill of the competitors.

While in the world of cinema, we also got to see the trailer for The Chronicals of Narnia - Lion, Witch and Wardrobe, which is out soon....... it looks good!!! While it did take the LOTR films to get me into the books, I devoured the Narnia books when I was a child.

And then because I was in a filmish mood, when I was home I watched that all-time great rom-com, which only suffered because people weren't sure if it was a sequal, remake, or what, from what is my all-time greatest ROM-Com, 'Sleepless in Seattle'. Yes, You've Got Mail.

I mean, I love Sleepless, it's an amazing film that doesn't take it'self seriously. Yes it's corny, but it's supposed to be. And for the same reason I love You've Got Mail. You know what's going to happen, but it doesn't matter, it's the journey that's important. And unlike a lot of more modern "romantic" films there is very little, if any, lust between the main charcactors. This is all falling on love and being happy with each other, in it's sweetest way.

Not that I'm suggesting that movie directors should start producing Sleepless and YGM clones, cause that would just spoil what are two fantastic films.
