In thirty-three hours (more or less) the brand new Harry Potter book will be out. Yay!!!!!
Now I'm a big fan of our old Harry, and I will try to resist the urge to go out and buy a copy at 12.01 Saturday morn, especially as I'll be finishing work about then. That's not to say that Harry Potter hasn't got a bit of contraversy about him. A quick look at BBCi shows that even here in merry Britain the question of whether such a popular children's series about Witchcraft and magic can drag young minds into the evil that is, what.....???
I think that most children who read the books know that it's make-believe. It's not like they're actually expecting a letter to Hogwarts as they come to their eleventh birthday.
Harry Potter has become an international craze, and it's a craze that has brought kids to books. I'm all for it. Let them discover this mythical world. Then let them find other books, like the Chronicals of Narnia. Let them use their imaginations, play their games. Let the young be children!!!!
