To Keats...................

Now back, many, many years ago, when I was doing my GCSE's I came across these evil things called poems. I didn't like them, but in an effort to pass my GCSE english I got a tutor who taught about poetry. So I'm one of these people whom can read and understand poetry, but not necessarily like it.

A few months ago, in one of my many piles of books bought from the library (I have bought more books than I've borrowed from there) I happened to bring back a book called "The Illustrated Poetry of Keats" which had lain unread till last night. Not that there was any particular reason for me to start reading it, I just happed to pick it up and flick through it.

One of the ones that resonated with me was "O Solitude! if I must with thee dwell,

O solitude! if I must with thee dwell,
Let it not be among the jumbled heap
Of murky buildings: climb with me the steep,-
Nature's observatory-whence the dell,
In flowery slopes, it's river's crystal swell,
May seem a span; let me thy vigils keep
'Mongst boughs pavilion'd, where the deer's swift leap
Startles the wild bee from foxglove bell.
But though I'll gladly trace these scenes with thee,
Yet the sweet converse of an innocent mind,
Whose words are images of thoughts refinded,
Is my soul's pleasure; and it sure must be
Almost the highest bliss of human-kind,
When to thy haunts two kindred spirits flee.

I don't know what it is, but I just empathize with this poem. I think it's probably the imagery that is suggested, but I thik it's great. I'm sure I shall share a few more over the next few days!!!

I would also like to appologise to Geneuvive who graduated yesterday, I tried to find you, but couldn't see you.... :( sorry!!!! welldone!!!!
