I feel that somewhere along the line I was told that the weekend was the time of the week where you refreshed your batteries. This was a case of the weekend being far too tiring.
I had taken Friday off work so I could drive up back up to Leeds (oh I'm getting to know the M1 well) and had a nice lunch and a few cups of tea before heading Yorkwards to meet up with the rest of my team. Saturday was the University Indoor Championships. No, I didn't win, because I'm not that good, but I did shoot a score that was only two points below my personal best which is really as much as you can ask for really. The full results aren't out yet, but I think I finished somewhere between fifth and seventh.
This was followed by much drinking and much silliness and I was ever so slightly naughty.
The problem with all this was the fact that I was then getting up very early on the Sunday and leaving my team to head off to Loughborough to take place in the inaugural Merlin Vegas shoot. For those who don't know (ie - almost all of you) in Las Vegas every Feburary there is the largest archery comp in the world with a top prize of $20,000.... being in England though the cash prize is slightly less. Top prize is £20 (with a fifty pound bonus) second £10, third £5. I finished twelfth and was quite happy with that... though I was pretty much cream-crackered by the end of it and might have doen slightly better if I had gone to bed earlier!!
But it was a damned fine weekend, even if I was then caught in traffic for four hours on my way home.
So having been away for the last three weekends what better that to be away next weekend as well?? I'm spending Saturday in Swansea (if anyone is interested in a cuppa facebook/email me) and then I'm up in Shropshire for Sunday.
nb - lbs, Cake Sunday is a special day where your main food stuff is cake. In my case (a couple Sundays ago) it involved two lemon cakes, chocolate cake and a whole batch of pancakes. And tea..... lots and lots of tea!!!
