Dreams, hopes and wishes are funny old things. Often there are things that are continually out of our grasp, other times, they are there for the taking.
I mean, I don't want to be sitting here, there are many other things that I'd rather be doing. However, sitting here is what I'm doing so I shall have to make the most of it.
Afterall, I know that I'm going to get to do some fun stuff this month, apart form the wedding last weekend (of course). I'm going to Proms in the Park for the Last Night of the Proms on Saturday, and that should be lots of fun!!!
And later on I'm planning on heading up North to visit a few people (and to get some hiking done in The Lakes). Which'll be a lot of fun I'm sure!!! I've been spending the last couple of evening pouring over maps trying to decide just what I want to do, but it's such a tough choice!!!
I shall take full advantage of being out in the sun and lovely countryside to get my camera out, dusted off and to finish off some films (I can't remember what's on them) and see if I can still take photos.
I will admit, one of my little pet joys is taking photgraphs, either landscapes or portraits, it doesn't matter which. I love the art of postitioning yourself and that of your subject to try and get the perfect picture. The thinking about how to frame the shot, trying to get light and contrast just so..... it's not easy. So as you can imagine, if there's anything that I find annoying it's people who using these modern-fangled "digital" cameras, taking loads of pictures and hoping that some of them come out nice....... whereas I, with expensive "real" film think about the pictures I want to take, think about lighting and all that jazz.
I love being out in the middle of no-where and just trying to set up a shot, if ever there has been a reason for getting up incredably early and not getting back till very late, that is a good reason.
Of course, taking portraits is much simplier. You can change the lighting, it's easier to postion everything, to play with colours... apart from one thing..... finding people to take portraits of.....
Afterall, to get good at something, it does take practice, but there is only so many times you can take photos of just one person, but if you try to find a larger number of people they just don't seem to be interested. Or scared.... that's it, they're just scared!!!! Which is a shame, but, there we go!!!
