A new month, and if news reports are to be believed, the rabbit is white cause it's going to be a really cold christmas....... We'll see!!!!
Today, I decided to write a couple of emails to people whom I've not heard from in a few months/years to partly see what they're up to, to see if they're still talking to me and because I want to...... I'm allowed!!!
I don't what it is, but there's something really nice about writing to people. I know that I've said this before, but good things can afford to be repeated. And leads on to a film that I saw last weekend.
Entitled Love Letters (yes, search on Google, don't forget to put film in there) I missed the very begining but was hooked. Chunks of the film did appear to be set in a private study with two people seemingly reading out old letters that they'd sent to each other, interspaced with the times they were actually together.
The guy from a good family, did well at school, goes into law and then politics and becomes a Senator. The girl, more wild, goes on to become an artist, has a breakdown, recovers..... and it's not till the end (though it may have been made clear at the begining) that the film is following 'Andy' as he thinks back over their relationship having heard of 'Melissa's' death.
This becomes the third film that has managed to bring tears to my eyes. The others being Deep Impact (when the shuttle crew say goodbye to their families before flying into the comet to try and destroy it) and The Last Best Year which I saw while revising for my GCSE's and was touched by how moving it all was, and the way they moved the christmas holiday cause Jane isn't going to make it...... just thinking about I can feel the tears welling up.......
Ignoring 'Deep Impact' the other two really are very weepy films but still very, very good!!!!
And all this means that I shall mearly mention in passing the crater on Mars that is now called Tooting (after the London Borough), the pub (Bridge Inn) in Topsham, Devon that has brought in 1/3pint glasses or the surgons in Raigmore Hospital, Inverness who wouldn't allow a four year old to take her extracted teeth home because they were "body parts".
You'll be pleased to know that the Tooth Fairy still left some money anyway!!!
