I was asked a couple of weeks ago if I ever felt that I was ever being taken advantage of (actually, I was asked something else by the same person that stuck in my mind, but that's a different story) by people asking me for lifts and to help move stuff and other bits and pieces....... and usually I don't. I'm quite happy to help out where and when I can. Giving lifts and moving stuff is something that I'm able to do (apart from being cuddly=good hugs, or drinking tea) and therefore quite pleased to do so.
There are, of course, times when I don't think this. But that is almost always simply because the person is fully able to do whatever it is they've asked me to do, themselves.... like when people who could have driven over, walk, then wait till it's really late before asking if they can have a lift home (or even worse, say they're ready for their lift home!!!). Is there something wrong with checking before hand??
But this happens very rarely, so I'm usually happy to help.
Two stories that I found in the paper yesterday;
Shorter Women are more broody so say psychologists at Stirling University. Aparently taller women have higher levels of testosterone during puberty, giving them more masculine traits such as assertivness (and presumably, height). Hence they are more likely to focus on their careers as opposed to families.
The Morning After, 1000 years ago. On a remote hilltop in southern Peru archaeologists have discovered the remains of a wild party with broken drinking vessels and burnt buildings, dated about 1000 years. It appears that this was the last party before the village was abandoned.
