New stuff/old stuff.........................

Having been described as an 'old man' (only today infact) I am often seen as being set in my way. What's quite sad is that this is true.......

I wouldn't want to appear like a grumpy old man, but there are times when it really seems that I am. If I make myself a cuppa, I always use the same set of mugs; I use the same pots/pans/chopping board when cooking dinner. I will use the same drinking bottle, I will wear out shoes and the like with continual use (I have infact just broken my boots and so should probably replace them before too long). I realised recently that my coat doesn't appear to be a waterproof as it was. Then I realised that is was eight years old.

My computer is ancient, my watch is scuffed, the collar of the shirt I'm wearing is worn through.

I'm not saying that I'm against new stuff in general...... but I prefer old stuff. There is some very nice new stuff around. But I feel that unless it's been around for a while, well, how has it proved it's worth??

But thing is, I treat a lot of things like that. I didn't like it when the newspapers went small...... but now I can see that it was fairly good and they're easier to read. I generally have to wait several months before deciding if a new person is going to be a good friend or not.

All it takes is time........
