One of the programmes that we as a house have taken to watching has been HBO's and the BBC's ROME. Our weekly intake of sex and violence, so to speak. No sex in the last episode, but the violence was there......one of our heros, Titus Pullo, who was arrested for muder and sentanced to death in the gladatorial arena. Well, our Pullo is a broken man, he's given up, sitting in the arena not interested.
But our three gladiators don't want to kill a man who doesn't care, they want some sort of fight. So they taunt him, and when they say insult his old legion (the 13th) he kills them. Then he kills the five gladiators who come out next. Then his old centurian (Magistrate Vorenus) jumps into the arena and kills off the last giant gladiator and carries Pullo and they become heros of Rome. Vorenus is then made a member of the Senate. As you do.
However, Rome is now over.....what to replace it.....???
Guess what!! Hocky is BACK!!!!!
The season has been going for three months (Oct 5th, 2005) but Channel 5 finally showed the first game last night. Ottawa Sens vs. Washington Caps. I only watched the first period (taped the match) and the Sens were 1-0 up and on a power play. Next week, there's another match. Montreal Canadians vs. Someother team. I'm hoping that it'll be my Leafs the week after that!!!
And yes, I am resisting the urge to go to nhl.com to see what the score was....
