Having planned (again) both todays and tomorrow's post my mind goes blank...... then I remember that I have an entire newpaper from yesterday to remind me for today's. I wrote tomorrow's at 2.30 this morning in felt-tip pen on a pad of paper. As you do.
Yesterday I bought 'The Observer' instead of 'The Sunday Times', partly for a change but also because they had a photo with the caption "Is this the most beautiful view in Britain?" and I thought I'd see where they'd suggested, so I could poo-poo it and say that Three Cliffs was a lot nicer. Then I looked at the photo and realised that it was Three Cliffs in the photo and felt a bit silly.......
Aparently, Three Cliffs is the best place to watch the sun set in Britain. I say apparently, cause I've not been there to see that. I normally head a bit later on to see the stars (the cliffs hide away all the lights) however the clear skies of Cumbria and North Yorkshire offer the best star-gazing. But until they get that bit closer I'm going to stick with the Gower.
For those Frosty Mornings head to the Mole Valley in Surrey, Derbyshire is the place for snow. For those of you who are kite-fliers Dunstable Downs in Bedfordshire should be your destination. The 'Big Skies' of Linconshire is the place to lay down and watch the clouds go by. You like woodlands...??? Penn Wood in Buckinghamshire is the best woodland in the country.
And for those of you who can remember and wish for White Christmases, Shetland has had nineteen of them in the last thirty years.
