The ground under my boots.................

One of the things that I love to do, especially when I'm down, is to clock up the miles. It doesn't matter whether it's on foot, by bike, in a car or on a train. The whole travelling away from your problems, going to places new. To see new people, new places, new experiences......

Back in the summer of 2000 I ordered an interrail ticket (which was a lot cheaper back then) and two weeks later set off for a month of myself and a bike. It was great fun, from the time where they wouldn't let me on Eurostar with my bike, not finding anywhere to stay in Brussels, visiting the World Expo Show in Hannover. In the middle of the Harz Mountains, in the Alps, Northern Italy and the south coast of France. Even leaving my bike at the luggage office in St. Raphael due to the fact that I didn't speak French and not discovering this till the end of the eighteen hour journey back to Koln, so having to go back again. (after a twentysix hour wait at the station for the once a day train) I even got to ride onto the ferry in Calais with a group of Welsh Hell's Angels.

It was a lot of fun.
