Over the last week or so pants has been asking questions about prayer. Does it do anything, just what is the point., that sort of thing. Listening to Jon Bon Jovi's album Blaze Of Glory there's a song called, Bang a drum.......
I went to see the preacher
To teach me how to pray
He looked at me a smiled
Then that preacher turned away
He said if you want to tell him something
You ain't gotta fold your hands
Say it with your heart,
Your soul and belive it
And I'd say Amen.
Bang a drum for the sinners
Bang a drun for his sins
Bang a drum for the losers
And those who win
Bang a drum bang it loudly
Or as soft as you need
Bang a drum for yourself son
And a drum for me.
It doesn't really answer any of those questions though I like the way it suggests that prayer doesn't have to be regulated, doesn't have to be done it a set manner. Of course, Bon Jovi isn't known as the world's foremost theologin, so I should probably just come to a stop there....... but it's still a good song!!
