They say the truth hurts............

Before I start I should point out that a number of my friends have described me as slightly arrogant. It is because I am that I'm able to write this with a straight face.

There is a well known children's saying; "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never harm me." I'm sure that you can find many thoughts on this (like this one) that go on about how untrue it really is.

But why???

There are two types of comments, those that are true and those that aren't.

If something is true (e.g. I am a tad arrogant) why deny it?? Sure, it's not really a good thing, but it's me and you know what, you don't like, why should I care?? Accept me or don't. I know I'm not perfect, but guess what, no-one is. We all have our bad points, those darker side of our souls.

There are then the untrue comments. There are two of these. Those that are untrue by accident. If it's an honest accident the person who originated the comment will surely appologise. Those that are untrue with the purpose of hurting. Well, you know that they are untrue. Those that are close to you and care for you know that the comments are untrue. In that case, who gives a flying monkey about 'The Commentator's' opinion?? Someone who is will to lie to hurt has not opinions that are important. Ever.

You should never let untrue coments hurt. If the comment is true, well, accept it. Sure, it may not be something nice about you, but it's still you. You should never been ashamed of yourself.

They asy the pen is mightier than the sword, I've been hit by both, I know it isn't. They say the truth hurts, but it shouldn't. It is simply what is.

And sure, there's going to be people who'll say that I don't know what I'm talking about, but you know what. I've had my share of being bullied through school. I was the short, chubby kid, loved science and reading, had glasses, not too good at sports.

You know what, I still am short, chubby, love science and reading, have glasses and not too good at sports. That is who I am.
