When script-writers get excited......

On BBC1 at the moment is the "drama spectacular" that is Spooks. In this week's, only slightly over-the-top episode environmentalist terrorists are threatening to flood London by taking over the Thames Barrier and with the up coming Leap Tide if the barrier isn't raised... well, everyone can swim, yes???

When my dad heard this he wondered just how much these terrorists managed to bring with them, because the Thames Barrier is big. No, I mean really BIG. It's designed to hold back vast amounts of water. It's not the easiest thing to brake.

Then my dad shrugged and said that it didn't really matter as the barriers can be raised from the outside with cranes. (he's worked on the Thames Barrier incase you wondered how he knew)

So, instead of the trying to use gas, sneak people in and all the other tricks that the script-writers 'MI5' agents used you could have switched operation to external sources and either let the terrorists died of bordom, give up, or use it for live training for your SWAT teams..... but that's far too simple for our script-writers. Or, more likely, they didn't ask....
