Well, I'm back from Boston (here) which was a bit silly as I was supposed to be going to Richmond, Virginia. I really should remember not to fall asleepon the train. Speaking of which, I have a secret.

Which I'm going to share.

You see, I like modelling. I like models and I like taking photos of models and I like playing with models. Perhaps at this stage I should mention (though it might be funnier not to) that by models I am refering to are of the railroading variety. I of course mean model trains. (not train-sets, steely glare at all those who would refer to my hobby as that....)

Last Saturday I headed up to the NEC in Birmingham for the second largest (I believe) model railway show in the country. The Warley National Model Railway Exhibition. Now, if you wonder why I'ma bit disagreeable over the term 'train-set' it's because these are a lot more than plain train sets. These are miniture landscapes, oases from the real world where one can escape to.....

these two are from a layout called 'Die Dreimuhletalbahn and is nearly fifteen meters (over forty-five ft) long.

this was just part of a very large layout that was all computer controlled.

This loco is an actual steam locomotive. It burns coal, needs water and the guy built it.

This is a much maligned hobby, but I love it still....
