As you may have read over at Legally Blonde and ERG members of the news are starting to get wind of the tragic death of MrG. When I met up with Ceinwen this evening she handed me a copy of Swansea's Evening Post which has an article on the front page (and page five).
What surprised me is that there was also a small article in one of me free London Papers (London Lite);
Charity worker killed in India slums
A British man who travelled to India to work with underprivileged children living in slums has been found murdered.
The body of university graduate Mike Blakey, 23, from Swansea, South Wales, was found hidden under a pile of stones in a stream in the Dharamsala region of Northern India. He had been in the area since June, but was due to return to Britain for Christmas. Friends say he was killed just three days before his flight home.
Anna Owen, director of charity Ton-Len UK, said: "Mike was a wonderful young man who was loved by all.
"He was an inspiration to us all and is irreplaceable in our organisation."
Police in India said they were yet to establish a motive.
This was actually the first time I'd been able to actually talk to someone else about MrG's death. One of the things about being so far removed from others that knew him is that.... well, it becomes somewhat removed from real life. It's a bit like it's just words on a screen (or in print) rather than something real. Something people.
I'm heading back to Swansea on Saturday to get see people before the Christmas Ball on Monday evening. I'm almost worried about going, because if I do it'll make it all real. While I'm out here everything is like rumours and hersay... but back there it'll become true.
And I don't want it to be true...
nb - for those wondering why Ceinwen was up in London his evening, that'll be my post for tomorrow... unless something more interesting on my traintrip to Cambridge happens.
