I think tonight I will have an early night.
Last night I was up till 3am downloading photos onto Flickr (why does it allow you to upload only 6 photos at a time???) and then up three hours later to head to Twickenham/Richmod area to work on the A316. I was grumbling on my trip in as to why a thirty mile journey, along mainly roads where the speed limit is either seventy or forty miles per hour, takes well over an hour.
Unfortunally the answer is very easy, the roads simply aren't able to cope with the amount of traffic that needs to use them.
I'm sure that there are people who might suggest that public transport might be a possible solution. I look down on these people who have obviously never tried to use public transport to travel Londonwards in the morning rush hour.
I have had to travel into London on the train on numerous occasions during the morning rush-hour. Even thought we aer only the fourth station from the start of the line by the time our twelve carriage train arrives at my station it is already standing room only. We are not the last stop before London either. There are two bigger stops still that pack even more people in. I suspect that the reason that there are no more stops after Woking is simply because you couldn't put any more people on the train if you wanted to.
There are people who will spend hundreds of pounds on a season ticket and never get a seat on their train (unless you go first class).
But I was talking about today.......
Coming back I thought wouldn't be too bad... till I got stuck in a traffic-jam for an hour on the M3 due to a lorry fire.....
Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
I would almost be tempted to move to London to lose some of the commute (though Rolo took twenty mins to travel the four miles from his house this morning) and have the right to try and vote bloody Ken out of office.
