Out in the woods there is something stiring......

Before I go rambling on what I'm planning on rambling about just thought I'd answer a couple of questions from the last lot of comments:
Rhys - the gown will be black as it's only an MPhil and I think that the hood will be gold. However as our department has been closed and we're technically part of Enginering, as opposed to Science, it might be red/green.
Ian - a viva is an oral exam on your degree, basically to check that the work is yours, that you understand what you did. They can also ask you questions from a more general subject background. Of course, if your first/second undergraduate years were a long time ago you might not remember it too well. Or at all. Being asked questions that you know you should know the answer to, but don't is rather disturbing. When you know there's another hour of this to go, well..... Not nice.

Anyway, I wanted to ramble about something else. In fact, about a ramble that I did today out on Boxhill near Dorking. You see today was the Surrey Field Archery County Champs, which basically means walking around a wood shooting at animal targets. The weather was lovely and it was great fun.

Didn't do too well on my first lap, mainly because this was my first time at competitive field archery and it's quite hard to guess how far away the targets are (unmarked distances), but I did much better on my second. No medal for me, but I suspect that I may have been in the top five.

But after a glorious day out in the woods I'm going to relax for the rest of the evening, but it's been fun.
