When I started this blog six and a half years ago (I know, I've missed my two last wibirthdays) I was a bright-eyed twenty-four year old university student who didn't have a clue what he wanted to do with his life. I am now rapidly approaching the grand old age of thirty-one and if I'm honest... I still haven't got a clue as to what I actually want to do with my life.
That isn't to say that I haven't done a fair bit since this blog has started. I have (finally) finished at uni, though I do suspect that there are some people who were surprised. I think it's very good advice that it's much easier to finish a degree when your department hasn't been closed down.
I now have two London Marathons under my belt... and for some mad, mad reason and feeling tempted to do a third... though I do suspect that I may have to do some actual training this time if I want to break the six hour barrier.
And talking about doing things twice, my two trips out to argentina to take part in possibly one of the silliest and most fun game show in the world.... Total Wipeout. Alas I don't yet know when the second show is going to be out but I shall tell you guys when I know...
... assuming of course I'm about, as much earlier in the year I suggested that I may be going on some travels later this year... but as I'm talking about stuff that I've already done, I'm going to have to come back to this another time... ;o)
I have also had the great honour to be able to represent my country in my chosen sport on three occasions, including a trip out to India for the Commonwealth Games test event. If you're interested in how that went I have found some footage from the Bronze medal match that we competed in... you can either skip the first 18 minutes, or if you wish you can watch the Ladies Gold medal match between England and India... it's very good. (I'm afraid there's no sound)
It was a lot of fun!!! :D
I have attended an Olympic games (2006 Turin) which was considerably easier than getting to the London Olympics... it was a lot of fun even if my team did loose 5-0 in the game that I got to see them play in... they went on to win the gold so I guess it's not all bad!!
I have been able to work in such places as Buckingham Palace and Harrods to the rooftops on some of the highest buildings in London and Manchester. For some reason I always end up in the less salubrious bits of hospitals... though lugging several heavy packs of scanner equipment up mountains in North Wales during December for two weeks wasn't what I would describe as fun. Not as much as working just down the road in June when it was gloriously sunny and warm and I spent two weeks in a Cadw castle working by myself with only my mp3 player for company....
But despite all that (and the stuff I can't remember off the top of my head) I just feel.... I don't know... like I should have done so much more...
