Diary of an accident victim - Part 61

Cycled thirty four miles today, and it hurts. For someone who used to regularly ride over a hundred miles, and has been known to say that twenty miles was only warming up that is not a lot. But it'a all I can do now. Age and arthritis are taking their toll, especially the age. Even with a bike set up for the needs of a semi-disabled rider (basically a trekking bike/hybrid with tweeks) I found a non stop ride of 30 miles difficult, I stopped for a rest at about 30 miles, just a short distance from home. To make it worse I was avoiding hills. I've gone further in one day, but only by taking breaks to rest the bad foot. At least I got out, and beat the rain, the exercise helps, if the muscles in the foot are strong then there is less strain on the arthritic joint. The rest of the day was just resting up. Resting because of the pain, cold didn't help either. But pain is something I have to put up with, a little pain after a ride can save a lot of pain later. Overall it was a good day.
