Where is God in this?

Diary of an accident victim Part 7

A quick recap: Knocked off pedal cycle and taken to hospital with multiple fractures. 3 days before I can sit on my own, and seven before I can go home. At the same time Alan, my father-in-law, is in a different hospital, the news from there is not good. So where was God in all this? It would be easy for me to become bitter, and to blame God and want revenge. But that's not what happened. The opposite happened, I felt a deep sense of God's presence with me, and a desire to forgive the driver of the car that put me here. It's not as if I were doing anything religious, I wasn't reading the Bible, my bifocals had been broken in the crash, and my spare glasses didn't have reading lenses, neither was I praying much, in the sense that a prayer is words spoken to God. What I was doing was trusting. Trusting that God would bring me through this. Trusting on behalf of Alan. And feeling gratitude to God for the progress I was making. We are never promised that everything will be well if we follow Christ. In fact we're promised trouble. Jesus said, "In the world you will have trouble, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
