Flags are flying in Greenhead Park. The party that followed the Olympic Torch Relay is underway. The torch passed without a hitch, drinks were served by our church before the event, and the church building was in constant use by those wanting the toilets. First the sponsors floats passed. Both Mrs B and I got a 250ml botle of Coke Zero, these was passed on to nearby children. Then fifteen minutes later the torch itself. Clouds were looking grey, but the rain held off until after the torch had passed. Like all historic moments, I forgot my camera. So into the park. It was packed. And rain had started. Mrs B and I went home for something to eat and a rest. Later, as the rain subsided, we returned to the park. First I took a picture of the Croppers Arms, where the torch relay leg had started. Despite the weather there were still children on the bouncy castle. And the pub, like the park, had flags flying. As we neared the park we met quite a lot of people leaving. Most of them would have been on their feet for four hours and had children, so it was understandable. There were brass bands and jazz bands in the bandstand (we had just missed the band from the local mega-church). Street performers other musicians at various points and a chance to try different sports such as archery, fencing or target golf using a velcro covered ball. A good day.
