Yesterday was Palm Sunday.
Although there was a chill in the air the sun was out and the daffodils in the churchyard are in their full glory.
We have a different alter cloth up for this. It was made by our skilful team of dedicated ladies two years ago and features a particularly smiley donkey:
We didn't have the traditionally long Gospel reading this year, but Psalm 118 and the short account from Mark's Gospel about Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem.
The sermon too was unusual. It centred on how earlier this week watching a video of the film Machine Gun Preacher with a friend led to the the first time the preacher (our preacher, not the one in the film) had an opportunity to talk about what the Christian faith means. This was the first time the friend had shown curiosity about Christianity despite a long friendship.
He asked us to pray for Alan, the friend.
May God give us the opportunity to speak about him to our friends.
