Happy Anniversary

Diary of an accident victim Part 25

14 March 2007

It's one year today since the accident, and I'm still walking with a stick, and I'm still out of pocket. But I'm alive. That is the main thing. How have I done?

7 days in hospital, 2 of which were carefully monitored. 9 weeks with my leg in plaster. 14 weeks off work. 23 weeks before the case comes to court. 12 weeks later the solicitors get the court and police reports. 4 weeks later, the other side's solicitors and insurance accept responsibility 12 weeks later, and 51 weeks since the accident, the solicitors have received the medical reports from the hospital and my doctor.

So where am I now? This last week I received an appointment for March 30th with a specialist to assess my medical condition so that a claim for damages can be made. I also received a form to fill in giving my account of the accident - again. By the time this is over I'll have written enough words for War and Peace. Twice. But I'm alive.

...to be continued.
