Almost better.

Diary of an accident victim Part 15

Thursday 1st June 2006

Managing to walk short distances without sticks, so I went with my sicknote to work. At last I could get past security and see someone. (see this blog.) It's good to know you're being missed, and that they're wanting you back, and that the person who is doing your job is not as good as you at it. Still negotiations as to whether I'd be allowed back part time once I'm well enough. They seemed very eager to have me back. Why didn't they give me this impression of my worth to the firm before the accident, and how long after I'm back before they take me for granted again? As for letting the lads on the shop floor know how I was, I didn't have time to see them all, but I singled out the shift gossip, He'll let them know. Mood, happy.

Wednesday 14th June

Phone call this morning, work calling. They wonder If I'm able to come in and do some data inputting work on the computers, same department as I usually work. I tell them I've got a hospital appointment this afternoon, and I'll ask. Hospital appointment is the same as before, x-ray and lots of waiting. The fractures are almost mended, and I get a note to say I can do light work. Mood, very happy.

Thursday 15th June

I take the sicknote into work and ask to see my manager. He's busy, so I see his boss instead. The guy who does our data inputting is going on Holiday for 3 weeks from the middle of next week. They want me to go to work on Monday. Mood, still happy.

...to be continued.
