Is it better to be a pessimist?
Diary of an accident victim
Part 13
Wednesday 17th May 2006
Back to hospital for yet another check up, it's becoming familiar surroundings. Mood, unoptimistic.
X-rayed, then see the specialist. I go straight in, Where's all the waiting time gone?
The pictures show that where there was a clean break two weeks ago the line is now a little fuzzy - nearer to the background black than the white of the bone, but an improvement.
He wants me to continue walking on it, but without a pot. So its back for a last visit to the plaster room (again with no wait) and home, leg feeling weightless.
Mood ecstatic.
Why is it when I go to the hospital optimistic that there will be an improvement I go home disappointed, yet when I go fearing the worst I come home delighted? Is it better to be a pessimist?
... to be continued.
