Hunger lunch
On Sunday our annual hunger lunch. After the 10.30 service on Advent Sunday instead of going our separate ways we stay in church for a chance to buy fairly traded goods and then a simple lunch of soup, bread rolls, cheese and fruit. People are then asked to donate what they would have normally paid for their Sunday lunch, and the proceeds are given to Tear Fund.
This year it was better than ever. each year the more people stay around for the hunger lunch than on previous years, over 40 this year. Six different soups were made, slowing down the serving time as some people were indecisive. (I asked for something which was not parsnip. The carrot and coriander was very nice.)
We'll get to know how much was raised next Sunday.
