Today is exciting - I am going to my first gay wedding and it looks like it should be a good 'un! It would seem to be more wedding-y than most weddings I have been to i.e. there are bridesmaids, ushers etc etc. The couple in question have been together for 12 years and it is also a mixed race partnership so there should be a real variety of people there.
I thought about wearing a sari for a while until one of the grooms told me that I could wear it by all means but there was no way he was coming to the loo with me every time I needed to go so that he could tie it back up. So I canned that idea and instead I have a fabulous black and white print wrap silk dress and scrummy shoes that I struggle to walk in (I am sure I will be fine after a bit of pink champagne!) I just have to decide whether to wear the fur coat or the velvet jacket now. It is just really nice to have something to get tarted up for.
Anyway, I am sure it will be a great day and it is such a wonderful opportunity to celebrate with some good friends who have been together for years. So, on the off chance they will ever read this blog - much love to O&D on your special day!
