Grrrrrrr! Just as well I didn't write this earlier on today as I was absolutely raging!
Why don't doctors ever listen? Part of my job is to do assessments and make recommendations about treatment etc. I know that doctors have to make the final decision about medication, but could someone please enlighten me as to the point of starting someone on such a low dose of opiate replacement medication and not titrating it up quickly enough to make a difference so they continue to suffer withdrawal symptoms. All they will do is use heroin on top of their prescribed medication.
It's not like I am a new worker. I have been there 5 years and have seen hundreds of clients come through the door... and what makes it worse is this doctor is a trainee who is only on placement in our team for 6 months.
I should have been a doctor. I have watched Casualty and Holby City enough times so surely I would know what to do by now!
