I love reading and I will read anywhere and everywhere; in bed, eating my dinner, in the bath, on the loo, on public transport etc... you get the idea. My colleagues at work think it is hilarious and will joke that I fit work around my reading (not entirely untrue). I often go into the library which conveniently is next to my office and pick 6 books of the shelf knowing that if I don't like them I don't have to read them! I think last year I got through an average of about 8 books a month, sometimes more if I was on holiday.
My main problem is that because I speed-read I tend to forget the names of authors and the titles of books; I just know whether I have enjoyed what I am reading at any particular time. So for the last year or so I have been keeping a list of the books I have read, and a list of books I want to read. Sounds obsessive, and I suppose it is, but I have found it quite interesting to review the types of books I choose to read. I read a lot of chick-lit because it is a bit like chewing gum for my brain as I don't have to think to hard about it. So I am trying to expand my reading this year and one of the ways I am doing it is to read the books in Richard and Judy's Book Club. It seems that the books they have on their lists are quite varied so it should be interesting. Watch this space... I might even give a sensible review of some of them... or I might not!!!
