Typical!!!!! Why do things always happen when I have something nice to do? This weekend I am off to the Isle of Wight with a bunch of people from the Ship of Fools and I have managed to hurt myself.
Yesterday I fell over quite spectacularly whilst at work and twisted my ankle. As I have turned my ankles on numerous ocassions I didn't think much about it but took my usual concoction of painkillers, anti-inflammatories, iced it and strapped it up. This morning I woke up and was in absolute agony and unusually I had a bruise on both sides of my ankle... usually it is just the outer edge. So, I managed to get into see my GP who had a look at it and sent me up to A&E for x-rays as he thought I might have a hairline fracture on the bone on the iside of my ankle.
So, I sat at A&E for about three hours before they told me that there are no fractures and it is a soft tissue damage. Thank goodness for that, but it is really sore :(
I am hoping that I will be able to put it up tonight, but as I haven't baked any cakes for the weekend, or done my ironing and packed that it looking unlikely!
So, I am expecting some TLC from all the people who are going to be in the Isle of Wight this weekend. I am a dreadful patient... you have been warned!! (as birdie can testify when I thought I was having a heart attack as I had pains in my chest and my arm!) On the plus side though, my boss phoned me about something else and I told him I had spent most of my day at A & E and he told me to that I shouldn't be taking today as annual leave but as sick leave. What a nice man he is!!
