Parish Day Mum and Dad have spent most of the day in the garden and The Mister has spent at least half the day in bed as he is working a night shift tonight so I sat on the beach this afternoon with my book and listening to the band playing at the hotel nearby. We did manage to take a bit of time out this morning though. It seems that most of the island parishes have been running local events so we went to the one for the Castel. It was pretty much a traditional type fayre. There was a coconut shy, hoopla, a crockery smashing stall, plant, cake and other stalls and a hog roast. I think in the afternoon they had various things going on, but when we went up people were just milling around and we saw lots of family and friends. It had such a lovely atmosphere. This group of people in the picture I think are traditional Guernsey dancers and the lady in the black and the green said they were performing later in the day. I wanted to know whether any of her outfit was vintage but she said that it was all modern so that it could be laundered easily. I thought she looked fabulous, really regal. It's been a lovely day and we have another one off tomorrow! Hurray for the Queen. Incidentally, I think she has been the most amazing monarch. She has never really put a foot wrong and has served her country with dignity and humility. I think we should all be proud of her whether you are a monarchist or not.
