The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne is a GREAT book which has recently been made into a film.
It is about an 8-year-old German boy called Bruno who moves, along with his family, from Berlin to the country. His father is a Nazi and they end up living next to what he thinks is a farm called Out-With. It has long fences and he can see people in the distance who are all wearing striped pyjamas. It tells of his friendship with another young boy called Schmuel who is a resident of this 'farm'. The ending is entirely unexpected and made me cry... and I suspect the film will make me cry even more. A brilliant book, well worth reading as it is beautifully written and I can't wait (in a weird sort of way) to see the film.
