I was meant to go to Jack the Lass' hen do tonight, but for a variety of reasons I couldn't go. So, instead I went to Winchester Christmas Market instead. It has been a long day, but fab. The market itself was a bit disappointing but then we had a little visit to Winchester Cathedral. Being with Oj was fascinating, I just hadn't realised quite how white middle-class Winchester is... he noticed it much more than I did!

I studied for three years in Winchester, and I had forgotten just how beautiful the cathedral is. So, here are some photos...

My favourite thing in the whole Cathedral though is The Pieta by Peter Eugene Ball. It is a gorgeous sculpture of Mary holding Jesus after his crucifixion and I found it really moving. Mary looks quite old and she has such pained look on her face. It is just beautiful. Here are a couple of pictures, although they didn't come out that great as the light was starting to go...

I have also found out that he also designed the altar table and saints in The Fisherman's Chapel pictured above and The Ship of Fools.

Lovely!

Ps) For all you Anthony Gormley fans out there I couldn't get a picture of the beautiful statue in the crypt as it was too dark!
