Last night my friend James and I went to see the film Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. We went at 9.40pm to see it in the hope that we wouldn't have to deal with lots of irritating children. Perfect, although as it finished at 12.30am I barely stayed awake!! The cinema was packed though, even at that time.
The film was visually absolutely stunning. Much darker than the previous films with stunning graphics and some quite scary moments. I jumped at least once, even though I was expecting something to happen. My only complaint was that the story itself seemed a little slow at times. I think one of the problems is that this very much felt like a 'filler film'. Everything is being directed to the next two films which will conclude the series and therefore it felt a bit unresolved by the end of it. Having said that, I really enjoyed it. There was a definite romantic slant to it, with the Harry and Ginny and Hermione and Ron relationships developing nicely. It was also very funny in places, generally because Rupert Grint is such a brilliant comedy actor.
Well worth seeing, if only to give you a glimpse of what the next films might be like.
