The Interpretation of Murder by Jed Rubenfeld is one of Richard and Judy's book club reads from 2007. Usually I love anything on their book club list, but I found this such hard going.

In many ways it is a clever book. It is a murder-mystery story set in the USA in 1909. The characters include Freud and Jung and it documents what may have happened around their disagreement. However, instead of finding it fascinating I found it difficult to follow the story and rather 'clunky'. Instead of wishing I wasn't working so I could read it, I found it difficult to pick it up and finish at times. Undoubtedly a clever book, but I didn't think it was terribly well written and the characters were not very well developed and maybe that's what made the story so difficult to follow.

I am going to pass it onto the psychologist at work to see what she thinks. We tend to like the same sort of books so it will be interesting to get her reaction on it. Also, she is cleverer than I am so she might understand it better!!!!
