Arti the gardener

It's been such a long time (again) since I last posted. I've had a few weeks where I've felt a bit "disconnected" and it wasn't easy to concentrate on blogging. However, now I am feeling a bit more myself, allow me to remedy that problem!!

Basically I've had quite a good Easter. I've been able to have a rest from my schools work whilst still continuing with a lot of my tutoring. I've also spent a lot of time gardening. I spent 8 hours down at church one day, making a large container from chicken wire, and then, with a friend, putting about 30 wheelbarrow loads of wet rotting leaves from last autumn into it. I also had a bonfire!! (pyromanics R us). It was really good fun but I did ache a lot the next day!

Today I even started to profit from my gardening "skills". I've been able to do a couple of hours paid gardening for a friend, with a promise of some more hours in a few weeks.

One trouble I have now is decribing what I "do" to anyone new I meet. Well a kind of gardener/therapeutic tutor/teaching assistant is a bit of a weird one to explain. If any of you out there have any good ideas for a succinct job title, please let me know. I end up saying to people, "well I have I few part time jobs, mainly tutoring but also...." by which point usually they've been given more information that they bargained for (or probably wanted). One thing I've discovered about myself though is that I really do like doing a variety of very different things in order to earn my living!

It looks like I may be giving up my schools (agency arranged) work for a few weeks from the 8th of May as one of my tutees is rapidly approaching her GCSE's and asked if I could come "nearly every day"! I can but only if I drop the agency work and arrange to see her during school hours (which hopefully shouldn't be too much of a problem as she has lots of free lessons - as long as the school is OK about it!). The ever changing structure of my work feels very strange at times, but I have to admit that I do like the variety. I'm hoping that this change will be a good move, enabling me to have a bit more time to pick up another bit of tutoring that may be coming my way (but not definite yet).

I've managed to avoid doing loads of jobs I had intended to do over Easter. Somehow it's been really hard to motivate myself. I did manage to start a "to do" list though. Updating my blog was one of the items on the list! (Honestly, fancy having to put that on a "to do" list!!!!)
